Walthers Mainline 910-56115 HO 40' Drop-Bottom Gondola - NYC #349745

Bring authentic wartime-era freight equipment to your HO layout with the Walthers Mainline 40' 50-Ton Drop-Bottom Gondola decorated for New York Central #349745, offered under item 910-56115. This car recreates the composite-side gondolas that used wood in place of steel to conserve metal during the First World War, a design based on the USRA drop-bottom pattern and later updated with newer trucks and AB brakes. More than 20,000 of these versatile cars were built for roughly 25 railroads.

Hauling coal, stone, steel and other loose bulk loads, the prototype was a common sight in mixed freight service. Item 910-56115 arrives fully assembled and ready to run, with cast-in floor detail and non-operating drop-bottom doors, correct 33" turned-metal wheelsets, and Proto MAX metal knuckle couplers. This is a limited edition, one-time run of the New York Central #349745 road number.
