Walthers Mainline 910-10503 HO EMD GP9 High Hood - SP #400

Round out your first-generation diesel fleet with the Walthers Mainline EMD GP9 Phase II with High Hood decorated for Southern Pacific(TM) #400, item 910-10503. Outwardly close to the earlier GP7, it shares the same plain, boxy body with a tall short hood. Small production changes in the number and placement of louvers on units built from 1955 to 1957 led modelers and railfans to call these the Phase II GP9s, and many of the prototypes are still running today.

Decorated for Southern Pacific(TM) #400, the 910-10503 features a standard high short hood, a scale-width hood with correct contours, see-through steps, and a heavy die-cast metal chassis. Details such as dynamic brakes and pilot arrangements are applied as appropriate to the prototype. Constant and directional warm white LED headlights and correct-size RP-25 metal wheels finish the model. This is a one-time run of these road numbers. The 910-10503 runs on Standard DC and is DCC-ready with a 21-pin (mtc) plug plus a pre-installed 28mm round speaker for easy sound conversion.
